TAG Heuer has equipped the Link with the well-proven Calibre 5 movement which features within the Aquaracer 300M Calibre 5 Steel Bezel that I reviewed last year. The crown is neat and features two subtle protectors either side, affording protection without cluttering the case-band or marring the glorious simplicity of line found on the flanks of the case. Furthermore, each bracelet link is rounded on the top, bottom and sides conferring a supremely smooth feel. This treatment not only includes the case but also extends to the bracelet. One of the key areas which differentiates the Link from other watches is the repeated interplay of polished and satin-brushed surfaces. Moreover, the base of the case is also cushion-shaped. By adopting this styling detail, the mix of shapes confers a gentle tone and softly spoken nature. The upper surface of the bezel is circular while the lower part of the bezel, adjacent the main body of the case, is a fusion of round and cushion shaped forms. The resultant outcome is a fluidity to the aesthetic appearance of the case and an ergonomic union with the wrist which usurps the majority of bracelet equipped watches. There are no lugs, the aforementioned Link bracelet is integrated into the case, ‘making horns superfluous’. The 41mm stainless steel case is like no other. A central sweep seconds hand completes the inventory of functions. A date aperture is positioned at 3 o’clock and is of sufficient scale to bestow superb legibility.Įach hour is denoted with an applied index, faceted in form and lined with white luminescent fill. Residing below noon, the brand’s logo is presented in crisp, white detail. Interestingly, the minute hand is notably long, reaching the chapter ring with its elongated form. The steel hour and minute hands are silver in tone and lined with white luminescent fill. The blue sunray dial resembles light kissing the surface of water, exuding an array of shades, all emanating from the fulcrum of the dial. Personally, I prefer the latter option, but all three dial colours are highly attractive. The Link is available with a choice of three dial options: black, silver-plated or blue sunray. It does not highlight a medical misdemeanour on my part but rather an ergonomic bracelet, ‘boasting the signature S-shaped links’ found on the first Link timepiece unveiled in 1987.Īt Baselworld 2017, the avant-garde Swiss watch brand released a trilogy of models destined to dazzle with their achingly gorgeous appearance. However, TAG Heuer recently unveiled a new Link which I was very interested in hearing about. I confess I am a little bored hearing about ‘links’ and healthy virtues. The problem with middle-age is that there is always a medical practitioner pointing out a link between an unhealthy habit and a potentially serious health condition. Moreover, there is a link between consuming sugary foods and type 2 diabetes. Sound medical advice dictates that there is a link between obesity and high blood pressure. The waistband of my trousers is a tad too tight and I am a little breathless when climbing the stairs. Today, is the first day of my latest diet. This detailed review of the TAG Heuer Steel Link for men Calibre 5 includes live images, specification details and pricing. Some 30 years since its inaugural unveiling, the watch continues to dazzle with its ergonomic bracelet. TAG Heuer Steel Link for men Calibre 5 The TAG Heuer Steel Link for men Calibre 5 is the latest iteration of the legendary watch, first unveiled in 1987.
